Elizabeth has 24 years of tax and accounting experience, including more than 20 years specializing in
state and local tax, of which 15 years were spent at the Big 4 accounting Firms. Elizabeth is the
Managing Partner of our practice and the leader of our State and Local Tax group.
Elizabeth has significant experience evaluating and developing sales and use tax processes, outsourcing
tax functions and developing best practices for state and local tax functions. Elizabeth plans
engagements, conducts research and analysis, oversees projects and teams, develops process improvement
tools, documents processes, and assists with compliance issues. She is involved in a wide range of
assignments for many of the firm’s most complex tax clients. She often handles tax controversy with tax
authorities, nexus and taxability studies and tax audits.
While at Deloitte, she led Firm efforts to build/purchase a cost-effective and efficient sales and use tax
compliance practice. Elizabeth played a key role in the due diligence, business case development,
business risk assessment and business integration process for the sales and use tax outsourcing practice.
She propelled the sales and use tax compliance practice from a $1.25 million practice to an $8 million
practice in four years. She led the business development/planning, continuous process improvement, and
risk management for the sales and use tax outsourcing practice. Then Elizabeth grew an off-shoring state
and local tax practice in India from a $4 million practice to an $8 million practice while on assignment in
India for 19 months.
Starting with Deloitte and ending with her own firm, Elizabeth led a tax process optimization project for a
large sales tax outsourcing company to prepare them for their transition to India. She documented
operating procedures in a 200- page manual and built in process efficiencies reducing their training time
for new hires from two to three months to two to three days. Then she led a tax process optimization
project for an excise tax implementation project, which was over budget and past the deadline. She
simplified the existing implementation plan, which was too complex for the in-house team resulting in
additional consulting expenses. She effectively reduced their expenses by $80,000 per month.
